Augmented reality technology company Blippar, which is backed by Qualcomm Ventures, has won an award for its growth rate at the ‘CEO Scale Up Summit’ in London. Presenting the award at the London Stock Exchange, serial entrepreneur and founder of ‘Silicon Valley Comes to the UK’ (SVC2UK), Sherry Coutu (pictured) said “Typical growth rates for young companies is 20%. So for Blippar to have grown over 800% in 2012 and 200% last year is exceptional.”
The ‘Scale Up Summit’ brought CEOs from UK start ups together with mentors from Silicon Valley to help them overcome the challenges they face in growing their businesses. It was published in conjunction with a white paper, ‘The Scale-Up Report on Economic Growth‘ which makes six recommendations to the UK government on how to encourage faster growth of UK companies.
One of the event partners at the Summit was Startup Europe Partnership (SEP), a new initiative backed by the European Commission and six corporates;Telefonica, Orange, BBVA, Unipol Group, Microsoft and Telecom Italia. The Partnership has held three events, matchmaking startups with corporates; the next one is in Paris on December 12th.
