US-based web analytics technology provider Qualified secured $12m on Tuesday in a series A round that included Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venturing subsidiary of enterprise software producer Salesforce.
Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) led the round, which also featured fellow venture capital firm Redpoint Ventures. The startup had raised $5m in seed capital in June 2019, and Salesforce Ventures and Redpoint Ventures participated as existing investors according to TechCrunch.
Qualified is the creator of a software tool that provides detailed data on website visitors, including the company that employs them. It connects to a chatbot that can interact with visitors in real time, potentially leading to higher engagement and sales.
The company was founded in late 2018 by CEO Kraig Swensrud, who was chief marketing office for Salesforce for nearly two years up to late 2012, and Sean Whiteley, a Salesforce senior vice-president who left at the same time.
Swensrud and Whiteley subsequently co-founded GetFeedback, a Salesforce-compatible survey service developer that was seeded by Salesforce Ventures in 2014 and acquired for $68m by SurveyMonkey in August 2019.
Scott Beechuk, a partner at NVP who had previously been senior vice-president of product management for Salesforce’s service cloud unit, is taking a seat on Qualified’s board of directors in connection with the series A round.
