US-based big data company Qubole has secured $13m in a series B round led by Norwest Venture Partners, a venture capital firm managing funds for financial services firm Wells Fargo.
The other investors in the round were undisclosed. Qubole previously raised $7m in an April 2013 series A round that featured Charles River Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures as well as angel investors Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaram.
Qubole offers big data services in the cloud, allowing developers and non-developers to gain insights into the data generated by their companies.
The company recently formed a partnership with Microsoft to integrate its product, Qubole Data Services, into Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure. The service also works with cloud computing platform Google Compute and cloud storage platform Amazon Web Services.
Qubole will use the series B funding to support an expansion of its customer base.
Rama Sekhar, principal at Norwest Venture Partners, said: “Qubole is changing the big data conversation by tapping the power of the public cloud to provide a simple, cost-effective solution that turns the complicated task of analysing data into a seamless everyday business process.”
