Rachio, the US-based water efficiency app developer backed by e-commerce firm Amazon, has raised $7.1m in a series A round led by growth equity fund Arborview Capital, Dow Jones VentureWire reported on Wednesday.
The round also included venture capital funds Michigan eLab, Hallett Capital and Miramar Digital Ventures, the latter two participating as existing investors.
Rachio has created an app that sources online data concerning weather and precipitation and makes it available to users who can then use it to program their sprinkler systems. Alternatively, the sprinklers can be programmed according to weather reports.
The company received an undisclosed sum as one of the first beneficiaries of Amazon’s $100m Alexa Fund in August this year. It had previously raised $2.9m in funding, according to regulatory filings.
