US-based push notification technology provider OneSignal secured $7m on Tuesday in a series A round that included Rakuten Ventures, the corporate venturing vehicle for e-commerce firm Rakuten.
Venture capital firm SignalFire led the round, which included angel investors Zach Coelius, Auren Hoffman, Gil Elbaz and Devin Guan. It took OneSignal’s overall funding to $9.3m, the company said.
OneSignal has developed a push notification platform that enables app development clients to send messages to mobile users. In turn, they share anonymised transaction data with OneSignal, which then sells the information on to brands, data companies and advertisers.
The company had previously raised $2m in a 2015 seed round that included Rakuten Ventures, Y Combinator and angel investors such as Zack Coelius and Justin Kan.
