RapidSOS, a US-based emergency notification software provider that counts corporates Microsoft, AAA, CSAA and Motorola Solutions as investors, has raised $51.2m from undisclosed investors, according to a securities filing.
Founded in 2012, RapidSOS provides technology that connects the electronic devices of users to first response services and provide them with contextual data such as location or medical profiles that helps them respond to emergencies.
The round boosted the company’s overall funding to approximately $158m and comes in the wake of a $21m round in June 2020 led by growth equity fund Transformation Capital and backed by venture capital fund Laerdal Million Lives Fund and VC firm C5 Capital.
RapidSOS had closed a series B round featuring auto insurance provider CSAA and M12, the corporate venturing subsidiary for software producer Microsoft, at $55m in late 2019.
Energy Impact Partners, Playground Global, Highland Capital Partners, Forte Ventures, Two Sigma Ventures and Westly Group filled out the series B round together with individuals including Ralph de la Vega.
Highland Capital led a $16m round for the company in 2018 that included CSAA and M12, having also led a $14m series A the year before backed by Motorola Solutions Venture Capital and A3 Ventures, on behalf of communications equipment producer Motorola Solutions and motor club AAA respectively.
The series A round also featured Westly Group, Two Sigma Ventures, Responder Ventures and multiple private investors.
