Rapyd, a UK-based payments company that earlier in the year closed a $300m round, has set up a corporate venturing unit to invest in early-stage fintech startups.
Led by Joel Yarbrough, Rapyd Ventures said as well as capital it would provide access to its fintech-as-a-service capabilities and network of partners. Rapyd Ventures said its first investment would be in the seed round for Gotrade, a fractional stock trading platform that enables users in over 150 countries to invest in US shares.
Arik Shtilman, CEO and co-founder of Rapyd, said: “The innovations that we are seeing in the payments industry are not evenly distributed.”
