US-headquartered gaming accessory producer Razer launched a $50m investment vehicle yesterday that will invest in sustainable product and environmental technology developers.
Razer Green Fund’s capital will be deployed through the company’s corporate venturing unit, zVentures, and it will concentrate on areas such as renewable energy, carbon and plastic management, with an eye on its youthful customer base.
The vehicle’s first investment is in The Nurturing Co, a Singapore-based producer of sustainable consumer brands including Bambooloo, which offers toilet paper made from bamboo pulp.
Patricia Liu, Razer’s chief of staff, said: “Since the announcement of our 10-year sustainability roadmap, Razer has been inundated with requests on how startups can accelerate their own green initiatives.
“The Razer Green Fund was set up to empower start-ups with positive intentions to further their ambitions. Bambooloo truly embodies our mission to preserve the earth for future generations. We are confident that this investment will set a strong precedence for budding conservation startups to follow.”
