Real estate analytics software provider RealPage has agreed to buy Modern Message, a US-based resident-engagement platform developer backed by insurance firm Axa, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2012, Modern Message has created a mobile platform that enables residents of community housing to interact with property managers and maintenance teams, pay their rent and participate in an online community, while potentially getting discounts and reward cards for local businesses.
RealPage will integrate the service with its own residential software platform, ActiveBuildings, which incorporates tools for buying amenities online and communicating within residences.
Axa led Modern Message’s $2m series A round in 2017 through corporate venturing unit Axa Strategic Partners, following $300,000 from undisclosed investors four years earlier.
John Hinckley, Modern Message’s co-founder and CEO, said: “This is a great time to become part of the RealPage team. ActiveBuilding will be the perfect gateway to deliver Modern Message’s resident engagement programs to a broader industry audience while maximising results.
“We are also looking forward to exploring new opportunities that may arise from the combined platform. It is beyond exciting.”
