Rebright Partners, a Japan-based incubator investing and mentoring technology-based start-ups in south-east Asia, has raised an undisclosed amount for its latest fund and struck a deal in Indonesia.
The fund’s remit will widen by looking at burgeoning mobile and internet start-up markets in south-east Asia, such as Thailand and Indonesia. Commitments to the fund are from a mix of Japan-based serial entrepreneurs and corporations.
Rebright, founded by Japanese entrepreneur and venture capital professional Takeshi Ebihara has expressed the new fund is likely to start investing in burgeoning mobile and internet markets, such as Bangkok, which Ebihara said is showing promise for start-up funding opportunities much like Jakarta was just two years ago, according to his recent interview with news site Tech in Asia.
The fund will focus on consumer internet service companies, with its recent undisclosed investment in Adskom, an Indonesia-based advertising platform service provider, one of the exceptions.
The start-up is being developed by Daniel Armanto, former Koprol co-founder and chief technology officer, and digital entrepreneur Italo Gani. Adskom is being introduced to Indonesia to provide a programmatic advertising system for online publishers. The services they will sell include a supply-side platform solution for managing real-time bidding on online ad networks.
Rebright Partners also runs and funds Batavia Incubator, a joint venture with Indonesia-based Corfina Group to invest in seed start-ups in Indonesia.
