Red Canary soars to $81m series C

Red Canary, a US-based security operations software developer backed by cybersecurity services provider Kyrus, raised $81m in a series C round led by Summit Partners on Wednesday.

Noro-Moseley Partners and Access Venture Partners also participated in the round.

Red Canary was founded in 2013 and develops software that helps businesses detect and respond to cyberattacks. Its offering also includes software for the protection of cloud infrastructure and tools for data analytics.

The capital will allow Red Canary to meet increased customer demand by supporting technology development and recruitment efforts.

The series C round has increased Red Canary’s total investment to approximately $130m. Summit Partners led a $34m round in April 2019, with investments from Access Venture Partners and Noro-Moseley Partners.

A securities filing shows Red Canary pulled $6.3m of funding from unnamed investors in May 2018.

Red Canary raised $6.1m in a series A round featuring Kyrus, Access Venture Partners, Noro Moseley Partners and Service Provider Capital in 2016. Kyrus also led the company’s $2.5m seed round in 2015.
