Orix Capital, the venture capital subsidiary of Japan-based financial services firm Orix Corporation, has invested $10m in US-based digital workspace technology producer RES.
Founded in the Netherlands, RES provides digital workspace systems that supply workers with apps and services while giving their companies’ IT departments greater control over cost and security.
The investment will support R&D and the securing of more strategic alliances with technology companies, as well as growth in emerging markets.
Orix Ventures director Todd McDonald said: “RES is another great fit for Orix Ventures given its market leadership position, blue chip customer base and strong management team.
“We immediately saw the value proposition and were able to move quickly to provide additional capital for the business, which will support RES’ continued high growth.”
Private equity and venture capital firm Gimv invested €4.7m ($5.2m at today’s exchange rates) in RES in 2010.
