US-based content monetisation technology provider Restream has secured $50m in series A funding from investors including game developer Colopl and internet group Kakao.
Venture capital firm Sapphire Ventures and growth equity firm Insight Partners co-led the round, which also featured Silverton Partners, Anorak Ventures, Mana Ventures, Liquid 2 Ventures and Iskra Ventures. The company said Colopl and Kakao invested through Colopl Ventures and Kakao Ventures respectively.
Restream provides software that helps online content creators such as gamers, event streamers, influencers and media companies monetise their livestreamed content and engage with their audience.
The product’s features include an automated scheduler that allows recorded videos to be streamed live in real time, a multistreaming tool that can stream content across multiple platforms and a chat function that can stretch across those platforms simultaneously.
Users can also take advantage of detailed analytics covering performance across several platforms. Restream claims 2 million content creators use its software, and it has just released a new iteration called Restream Studio which allows branding to be overlayed on content as it goes out.
The round came in the wake of $3.4m in seed capital from Kakao, Silverton Partners and digital payment processor PayPal in March 2019. The company also named Colopl Ventures, Anorak Ventures, Mana Ventures, Liquid 2 and Iskra Ventures as existing investors last week.
