Rombaut switches from Qualcomm to Cisco

Frederic Rombaut has moved from semiconductor and telecom corporation Qualcomm, where he acted as managing director for Qualcomm Ventures in Europe, to technology company Cisco, where he will run mergers and acquisitions in international regions.

The role will also involve developing Cisco’s corporate venturing activities internationally.

Qualcomm’s recent investments in Europe include UK-based video advertising platform Videoplaza and music streaming site We7. Nagraj Kashyap, vice president of Qualcomm Ventures, will take over Rombaut’s European duties until a permanent successor is appointed.

Prior to his moving to Qualcomm in 2006, Rombaut was chief financial officer at France-based telecom company Noos, during which time the business was acquired by media conglomerate Liberty Global.

Rombaut has also worked on telecommunications investment and management at private equity group Apax Partners and professional services firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and was a co-founder of mobile and internet provider Bouygues Telecom in 1994, while at France-based conglomerate the Bouygues Group.

In addition to his corporate and private equity work, Rombaut is a lecturer in venture capital and digital entrepreneurship at HEC Paris, one of the most prominent business schools in France.
