Speech and language software provider iFlytek has led a $100m series A round for China-based consumer robotics technology developer Roobo, Sina Tech reported yesterday.
Founded in 2014, Roobo is developing artificial intelligence-equipped smart devices. Its products include an educational robot known as Pudding as well as an intelligent drone, a wearable fitness tracker and a virtual reality headset.
Roobo plans to soon release a remote controlled robot built for play and companionship called Domgy (pictured), which will be able to navigate indoors and recognise faces and voices of family members and pets.
The company’s headquarters are in Beijing, but it operates subsidiaries in Shenzhen, Suzhou, Chengdu, Seoul, Moscow and Seattle.
