RR Donnelley finds its Journalism Online

US-based publisher RR Donnelley has acquired Journalism Online and its Press+ paid content management system from the founders and media group News Corp.

News Corp invested an undisclosed amount for a minority stake in Journalism Online in June last year and Jon Housman, president of digital journalism initiatives for the company, told news provider paidContent the company’s investment "appreciated considerably".

Steven Brill, founder of The American Lawyer magazine and Court TV, and Gordon Crovitz, a former Wall Street Journal (WSJ) publisher, started Journalism Online after Crovitz left following News Corp’s takeover of the WSJ and its parent, Dow Jones (a former employer of this story’s author).

Thomas Quinlan, executive president of RR Donnelley, said: "Our publishing customers continue to develop multi-channel advertising and editorial strategies and Press+ provides a valuable tool for monetizing content."
