Russia’s national postal service, Russian Post, is considering forming a corporate venture capital fund, Vedomosti has reported.
The company is seeking an adviser to help it form an open innovation strategy and ascertain the feasibility of either establishing its own dedicated vehicle or investing in external VC funds, in a bid to access new technologies.
The move is intended to help Russian Post digitise an operation with 350,000 employees that oversees more than 40,000 local branches across the country.
Russian Post formed a partnership with state-owned innovation hub Skolkovo Foundation in late 2018, and the two formed an accelerator that announced its first cohort in November 2019.
