Salesforce calls into Voicera’s $5.5m meeting

Voicera, a US-based meeting application, has raised $5.5m in its seed round from a consortium including Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous cloud service.

Other investors in the round included venture capital firms Greycroft Partners, Battery Ventures and Caffeinated Ventures. Voicera will use the investment to grow the team and rollout Eva, its inaugural product that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate meetings by making them searchable, taking note of decisions, and encouraging follow-up on action items.

In addition to securing funding, the company hired Ahmad Abdulkader as its chief technical officer. Abdulkader was previously a lead architect for social network Facebook’s applied AI efforts, which produced DeepText, a text-understanding engine with near-human accuracy in over 20 languages.
