ServiceMax, a provider of mobile field service applications formerly known as Maxplore Technologies, has raised $14m in its series C round from a consortium including online software group Salesforce.com.
Venture capital firm Mayfield Fund led the C round, which also included peers Trinity Ventures and Emergence Capital, an investor in Salesforce.com and whose general partner Gordon Ritter was previously the co-founder, with Salesforce.com chief executive Marc Benioff, of Software As Service, an internet services offering that grew into Salesforce.com’s Force.com and Database.com cloud computing platforms.
In April last year, ServiceMax raised $8m in its B round after Maxplore won Salesforce.com and Emergence’s $1m Force.com Challenge in November 2008.
George Hu, executive vice-president of platform, marketing and operations at Salesforce.com, said: "By leveraging the social, mobile and open capabilities of the Force.com platform, ServiceMax is transforming field-service management.
"ServiceMax is demonstrating how the next generation of cloud computing lets field reps communicate and collaborate with experts while in the field — so they can make better decisions faster, and improve productivity."
