US-based corporate video production house Sandwich Video has launched a corporate venturing unit in partnership with venture capital firm Ludlow Ventures, according to Forbes.
Sandwich Fund will take on the full costs for a startup’s brand video in return for an equity stake worth $100,000 – the approximate cost of producing a video. it expects to fund some 10 videos per year in exhange for equity stakes.
Sandwich launched in 2009 with a third-party Twitter app, but pivoted the same year after producing a video for payment processing service Square, explaining what Square did and how its service worked. Sandwich has since become renown as one of the leading video producers for startups.
The company’s client list has since grown to include ride-hailing apps Lyft and Uber and holiday home listing service Airbnb. Its biggest hit to date was a launch video for digital credit card Coin, which gained millions of views within days and propelled Coin to its crowdfunding goal in just 40 minutes.
Adam Lisagor (pictured), founder of Sandwich, told Forbes: “I am not going to throw away this opportunity on companies I do not believe in. I am going to reserve it, in fact, for the most important ones.”
