Sanofi helps send $17m to Click Therapeutics

Sanofi Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of pharmaceutical firm Sanofi, has led a $17m financing round for US-based digital medicine developer Click Therapeutics.

Click creates prescriptive digital therapeutics that use cognitive and neurobehavioural mechanisms along with adaptive data science technology to help patients adapt behaviour.

The company’s software can be used in tandem with biomedical treatments, and Click’s lead product is an app that helps users stop smoking. It is developing treatments for depression, insomnia, acute coronary syndrome and chronic pain.

Bernard Davitian, Sanofi Ventures’ managing director, has joined Click’s board of directors in connection with its investment. He said: “Click’s platform enables the company to target multiple indications efficiently and effectively.

“We have invested with the intent of partnering across a variety of therapeutic areas. Sanofi Ventures is excited to join Click on this journey of building a new pillar of medicine.”

Click had previously raised $7.4m in convertible debt financing between 2014 and April 2017 according to securities filings. Its investors also include seed-stage fund Supernode Ventures.
