Looker, the US-based developer of a web-based business intelligence platform, secured $30m in series B financing today from investors including Sapphire Ventures, the venture capital firm affiliated with software producer SAP.
Venture firm Meritech Capital Partners led the round, which also featured VC firms Redpoint Ventures, First Round Capital and PivotNorth, all three of which are existing investors.
First Round and Redpoint invested $16m in Looker in 2013 in a series A round that followed a $2m seed round backed by PivotNorth and First Round earlier that same year.
Looker’s data platform, which it launched in 2013, uses LookML, a unique data description language that enables analysts to create and curate custom data for enterprises.
Dave Hartwig, managing director at Sapphire Ventures, said: “These new investments reaffirm Looker’s commitment to creating data-driven cultures, not just providing another analysis tool.
“At Sapphire Ventures we focus on identifying and accelerating transformation in enterprise IT. Looker is clearly set up to challenge and transform the established BI industry, helping entire companies become data-driven through transparent access to data, a powerful analysis environment and unrivalled support.”
