Sauce Labs serves up $15m series D

Sauce Labs, a US-based provider of cloud-based application testing tools backed by cloud computing company Salesforce.com, has secured $15m in series D funding from venture capital firm Toba Capital.

The company enables developers to run automated tests of their software in the cloud before deploying it, eliminating the need to maintain on-site infrastructure and reducing costs.

Salesforce invested in Sauce’s $3m series B round in 2012, which was led by Triage Ventures.

Sauce Labs subsequently secured $5m in a 2013 series C round led by Toba Capital that also included Triage and individual investor Scott Banister. It raised $1.1m in a series A round in 2009 from undisclosed investors.

The company will use the series D funding to support development of its Appium product, and to expand its offering, infrastructure, development team and international operations.

Jim Cerna, chief executive of Sauce Labs, said: “Automated testing is critical to modern software development.

“We have seen tremendous adoption among web developers, and as mobile developers refine their continuous integration and continuous delivery processes, there is growing demand for scalable, reliable testing for mobile apps, as well.”
