Sawyer gets Advance in $6m round

Advance Venture Partners, the strategic investment arm of media company Advance Publications, led a $6m round for US-base personalised children’s learning marketplace and software tool developer Sawyer yesterday.

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, 3311 Ventures, Collaborative Fund and Female Founders Fund also participated in the round, together with unnamed investors from the startup’s seed round.

Sawyer has built a software platform called Sawyer Tools that gives alternative education providers tools covering functions such as scheduling, payment and communication. It also runs an online marketplace for learning services and classes.

Notation Capital, Collaborative Fund, VC1 and undisclosed angel investors supplied the capital for Sawyer’s $1.5m seed round, which closed in April 2016.
