Healthcare provider NewYork-Presbyterian has exited Saykara, the US-based developer of an intelligent medical assistant, in a purchase of undisclosed size by artificial intelligence technology producer Nuance Communications.
Founded in 2015, Saykara has created a mobile assistant that utilises AI to automate parts of the clinical documentation process for physicians, helping to streamline their workflow. Its staff will be transferred to Nuance’s research and development team.
Venture capital firm Madrona Venture Group led Saykara’s $2.5m seed round in 2016 and returned for a $5m series A led by VC firm SpringRock Ventures and backed by NewYork-Presbyterian and Elevate Innovation Partners two years later.
Harjinder Sandhu, Saykara’s founder and CEO, said: “I welcome the opportunity to rejoin the market leader in conversational AI and ambient clinical intelligence, and the impressive Nuance research and development team – especially at this important juncture in the development and adoption of these AI-powered healthcare innovations.
“We are very familiar with Nuance’s advanced technology, domain expertise and world-class technical team and share the company’s mission to make what matters to alleviate the clinical documentation burden on clinicians around the world.”
