Google-backed semi-anonymous social network Secret raised $25m in a series B round on Monday.
The round was co-led by venture capital firms Index Ventures and Redpoint Ventures, and also included SV Angel, Fuel Capital, Ceyuan Ventures, Garry Tan and Alexis Ohanian, as well as additional ‘secret’ investors.
Secret operates a platform that allows users to post gossip or admissions anonymously to their network of friends or contacts.
Google Ventures, internet company Google’s corporate venturing unit, led a $10m round for Secret in March that also included Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, and which valued the company at $50m. Secret previously raised a $1.4m seed round in December 2013.
The funding was revealed as Secret unveiled two new features for its app. Secret Collections is a subscription service that will display the best revelations from across the site, while users will also be able to connect with Facebook to widen their networks.
