SenSage raises $3.5m

US-based security software provider SenSage has raised $3.5m from its existing investors, which include financial sector-focused venture capital firm FTV Capital backed by the strategic investors.

The other investors in the consortium were Sierra Ventures, Canaan Partners and Mitsui Ventures but not its other previous backers Battery Ventures and Sand Hill Capital.

As part of the funding round, SenSage raised $2.75m in debt from MMV Financial.

SenSage closed its previous equity round in June 2008 at $15m, led by FTV, which was formerly known as FTVentures.

At that time, Craig Hanson, vice president of FTV and a SenSage board member, said: "Complex compliance and security requirements drive immense operating needs for the global financial institutions which comprise FTVentures’ strategic limited partner base."

The company has raised $30m since 2004, according to news provider VentureWire.
