Serviz, a US-based, on-demand home services provider backed by investors including daily deals service Groupon, has closed a $12.5m series B round led by venture capital firm PointGuard Ventures.
The round also featured Andy Sheehan and Jeff Stibel of Stibel Investments, as well as Serviz’s founders Zorik Gordon and Michael Kline.
Serviz has built a platform to book and allocate jobs from independent service professionals, and aims to do away with the high markups that home services companies traditionally charge.
The platform currently covers more than 300 services across five categories including general maintenance, plumbing, carpet cleaning, appliance repair and electrical. Serviz performs background checks on all its professionals and also insures the work.
The company previously raised $7.5m in a March 2014 series A round led by Groupon that also included Sheehan, Stibel, Gordon and Kline.
