Lee Sessions, former managing director for global corporate venture relationships at semiconductor technology producer Intel’s corporate venturing arm, Intel Capital, has joined Global Corporate Venturing (GCV) as its first executive-in-residence (EIR).
The position will involve advancing corporate venturing and innovation (CV&I) industry growth and success.
Sessions was a founding member of the GCV Leadership Society Advisory Board in 2016 to bring together influential corporate venture investors to address today’s innovation and investment challenges in meaningful ways and mentor the next generation of leaders.
The advisory board has been chaired for the past two years by Wendell Brooks, president of Intel Capital, and Sessions had spent that time building collaborative relationships with CV&I organisations to better support Intel Capital’s portfolio companies with the best co-investors to accelerate growth as part of Brooks’ “we are better, together” mantra.
Previously, Sessions had spent more than a decade being responsible for portfolio business development, marketing, press relations, events and information services operations for Intel Capital.
Sessions said: “I look forward to deeper collaboration with GCV to explore new opportunities for industry advancement in the interest of accelerating diverse participation and impact of corporate venturing in the global innovation economy.”
James Mawson, founder of GCV’s publishing company, Mawsonia, said: “The new EIR role powerfully combines the perspective of a seasoned practitioner from a world-class corporate venturer with GCV’s vision and leadership in bringing together key players and participants in the global venturing and innovation ecosystem.”
