France-based online insurance portal Seyna has launched with €14m ($15.5m) in funding from investors including Allianz France, a subsidiary of Germany-headquartered insurance group Allianz.
The round was led by Global Founders Capital, the venture capital fund formed by co-founders of e-commerce holding group Rocket Internet, and included family office Financière Saint James.
Seyna has become the first new damage insurance provider to be accredited by French regulators since 1983 and is targeting specialist areas not widely served by traditional insurers.
The startup will offer six different insurance products including student-focused rental cover, insurance for the self-employed and protection for event ticket buyers.
