Foundation Medical Partners, a venture capital firm backed by US-based healthcare provider Cleveland Clinic as a “strategic limited partner, has hired Kevin Sharer (pictured), the former executive chairman of local drugs maker Amgen.
Sharer has joined Foundation as a partner looking at deals in the connected health and healthcare information technology sectors.
Sharer had run Amgen from 2000 to last year after his previous role as the company’s president and chief operating officer from 1992 to 2000.
Foundation said its “special relationship with Cleveland Clinic allows the firm and its portfolio companies to directly access and work closely with physicians, surgeons, and scientists throughout Cleveland Clinic”.
