Anglo-Dutch-listed oil and gas major Royal Dutch Shell is launching an accelerator initiative in India and targeting cleantech, mobility and energy efficiency startups for its corporate venturing unit.
The company will run the accelerator scheme in India out of a newly-opened research and development centre in Bangalore, which is Shell’s third global hub for technology and innovation, according to news provider VCCircle.
Shell recently conducted an idea contest for Indian startups working in the area of cleantech and renewable energy.
The company said 50 startups participated in the competition, and three would be chosen as finalists from the 10 startups that were shortlisted to join an accelerator currently based in Singapore.
