Telecommunications firm Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Communications (NTT) and cybersecurity companies Symantec and FireEye have participated in a $25m series B round for US-based cloud security provider ShieldX Networks.
Bain Capital Ventures, Aspect Ventures and FireEye founder Ashar Aziz also invested in the round. NTT contributed through its ICT subsidiary, Dimension Data, while Symantec took part through its corporate venturing unit, Symantec Ventures.
Founded in 2015, ShieldX has developed a cybersecurity platform called Apeiro that uses microsegmentation to protect data in public, private or multi-cloud environments. The software allows deep packet inspection, visibility, policy management and enforcement at cloud scale.
ShieldX had previously raised $9m in a 2015 series A round led by Bain Capital Ventures that also featured Aspect Ventures.
Ratinder Paul Singh Ahuja, CEO of ShieldX, said: “We purpose-built Apeiro with best-practice cloud principles, technologies and economics in mind so that organisations can reap the benefits of the cloud but also be confident that they are protected against all existing and emerging threats to their cloud infrastructure.
“This funding will allow us to expand our marketing and sales efforts to meet increasing market demands while also keeping a strong focus on product development, including increased automation and intelligence across popular cloud environments that will meet customer demand.”
