US-based job search engine Simply Hired, backed by publisher International Data Group’s IDG Ventures unit, is closing down at the end of this month, TechCrunch reported yesterday.
Part of the company may reportedly be acquired, though details have not yet emerged. The company is terminating its partnership program on June 26.
Founded in 2004, Simply Hired operated a job search engine covering 24 countries that listed six million employment opportunities across 700,000 employers. The company attracted 30 million active monthly users.
Simply Hired raised approximately $34m in funding, most recently closing a $12m series D round in 2014 that featured IDG Ventures. VC firm Foundation Capital and investment bank City National Bank also took part in that round.
IDG’s first contribution came in 2009 when it supported a $4.6m series C round.
Simply Hired was previously rumoured in 2007 to be in acquisition talks with internet company Google, now a part of conglomerate Alphabet. That deal never materialised, however.
