Billing Revolution, a US-based mobile payments provider that has raised more than $10m from a consortium containing a Korea-based phone operator’s corporate venturing unit, has raised $6.6m in its latest round.
SK Telecom Ventures and venture capital firm DCM, as a new investor, co-led the series B round.
Rob Trice, senior managing director at SK Telecom Ventures, said: "With the current dynamic growth in mobile app and web usage and with NFC[near-field communication] soon to arrive, better approaches to mobile billing are needed. Billing Revolution’s extensible IP [internet protocol] platform is perfectly positioned to play a major role in defining and partnering in these new categories."
Andy Kleitsch, founder and chief executive of Billing Revolution, which operates the Single Click Checkout, added: "We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with DCM and to continue our relationship with SK Telecom Ventures. We are actively working to expand our relationships with banks, global gaming publishers, handset OEMs [original equipment manufacturers, app[lication] stores, retail merchants, and mobile operators."
US-based bank Citigroup has been a sponsor of Billing Revolution’s Single Click Checkout product since last autumn. The product technology, however, is Billing Revolution’s.
