Slack returns to Astound in series B round

US-based enterprise software producer Astound has raised $15.5m in a series B round that included Slack Fund, the investment arm of enterprise communication platform developer Slack.

Venture capital firm March Capital Partners led the round, investing alongside Vertex Ventures, Pelion Venture Partners and Moment Ventures.

Founded in 2016, Astound has developed an artificial intelligence-based platform that enables employees to automate IT support and human resources services.

The software uses machine learning and natural language processing technology to automate answers to routine questions, assigning and categorising incidents, and recommending the best solutions.

Dan Turchin, Astound’s co-founder and chief product officer, said: “Every service provider will soon deliver exceptional employee experiences using AI-driven automation. We are using this investment to accelerate innovation and hire the best talent.”

Astound had previously secured $11.5m in a January 2018 series A round co-led by Vertex Ventures and Pelion Venture Partners with participation from Slack Fund, The Hive and Moment Ventures.
