Smart Education, a children’s education software application company from Japan, has raised $5.4m from the corporate venturing unit of CyberAgent and Infinity Ventures. The company is behind the music app “Rhythm Book” for smartphones and tablets.
The company raised the capital to launch new apps and expand its global operations and sales. At the time of writing, Smart Education has over 6.4 million downloads of apps in total.
The company is attractive to investors because it attracts the attention of children and parents with its apps, such as Rhythm book, where children can learn and feel the rhythm by tapping instruments along with their favourite songs. There are more than 100 children’s songs from TV, cartoons, to choose from and nursery rhymes in English and in Japanese. This app is designed to co-play between parents and child. You can purchase more songs via internet and the songs you’ve purchased can be co-owned by the same Apple ID through iCloud.
