Smarterer, a US-based startup which provides skills assessment technology, and is already backed by Google Ventures and venture capital firm True Ventures, has closed a $1.6m series B round of funding including from new investors Rethink Education, a venture firm focused on education technology, and Deborah Quazzo, managing partner of GSV Advisor, a broker dealer providing advisory services to the education and business services sectors.
Smarterer has raised a total of $4.6m to date.
The funding will be used to develop and grow its enterprise skills assessment solution, Flock, which aims to “capture a company’s most valuable data asset – knowledge – by producing a complete skills inventory for an organization.”
Smarterer co-founder, Dave Balter, has joined the company as CEO, replacing Jennifer Fremont-Smith; previously he founded BzzAgent, a social marketing company sold in 2011 to dunnhumby, a division of Tesco.
