SmartRecruiters brings home $50m

SmartRecruiters, the US-based staffing software developer backed by enterprise software provider Salesforce, landed $50m on Wednesday in a series D round led by private equity and venture capital firm Insight Partners.

VC firms Mayfield Fund and Rembrandt Venture Partners also took part in the round, which increased the company’s total funding to $105m.

Founded in 2010, SmartRecruiters has developed cloud-based software that is used by more than 4,000 companies including payment services firm Visa, professional social network LinkedIn and social media platform Twitter, to find and hire new staff.

The software can be integrated with existing systems and customised to fit a customer’s individual needs.

In addition to strengthening its artificial intelligence and machine learning technology, SmartRecruiters will use the funding to accelerate expansion in Europe and Asia Pacific, boosting its headcount by about 100 on the way.

The company received $30m in a 2016 series C round led by Insight Partners and backed by Mayfield. The latter had also invested in a $19.5m series B that included Salesforce’s corporate venturing unit, Salesforce Ventures, and Rembrandt Venture Partners the year before.

SmartRecruiters founder and CEO Jerome Ternynck said: “With this funding in place, we see an accelerated product development trajectory, allowing us to build on our record of delivering what we call hiring success: better hires, better hiring velocity, better candidate quality and enhanced candidate experience for enterprise customers.”
