Media firm Axel Springer has exited Germany-based employment recommendation engine Jobspotting in an acquisition of undisclosed size by headhunting software provider SmartRecruiters on Tuesday.
Founded in 2013, Jobspotting has developed an online platform that uses data science and machine learning to match jobseekers with relevant positions based on their preferences. It is active in 10 countries and has so far matched more than 3 million users with jobs.
The company’s employees will continue to operate out of its Berlin office and its products will be absorbed into SmartRecruiters’ overall offering.
Jobspotting took part in Axel Springer’s Plug and Play accelerator in 2013 and had raised €500,000 from Axel Springer and angel investors including Stefan Gross-Selbeck as of the start of 2015, before venture capital firm Horizon Ventures added an undisclosed amount later that year.
Hessam Lavi, co-founder and chief executive of Jobspotting, said: “Jerome and his team at SmartRecruiters are just as obsessed as we are about bringing technology to the old-school world of online recruiting.
“Our focus so far has been on improving the experience of job seekers worldwide. Through this partnership we enter the next big chapter, which is to open up our matching technology to recruiters as well.”
