Snips, the US-based developer of an artificial intelligence (AI)-equipped voice recognition platform, has raised $13m in a series A round co-led by Maif Avenir, the corporate venturing arm of insurance company Maif.
The round was co-led by venture capital firm Korelya Capital and included state-owned investment bank Bpifrance and seed-stage VC firm Eniac Ventures.
Founded in 2013, Snips is working on technology that can integrate AI into mobile devices to be used in voice-activated applications. The platform, which was launched last week, operates in English, French, Spanish, Korean and German.
Snips raised $6.3m in a 2015 seed round led by startup data studio The Hive that also featured Eniac Ventures, Bpifrance, 500 Startups and angel investors Brent Hoberman and Xavier Neil. The company said it has raised than $21m in total.
