SoftBank and Samsung sweeten MyMusicTaste series A

Softbank Ventures Korea, the local corporate venturing arm of telecommunications and internet group SoftBank, has led a $10m series A round for Korea-based concert crowdsourcing platform MyMusicTaste, TechCrunch has reported.

Samsung Ventures Investment, the corporate venturing subsidiary of electronics producer Samsung, also took part in the round, as did Formation 8, Golden Gate Ventures, Timewise Investment, Partners Investment, Bokwang Ventures Investment and DT Capital.

Launched in 2013, MyMusicTaste helps artists gauge the level of demand in specific areas, meaning they can more efficiently judge whether to tour there and what size venues to book.

Due to its location, many of the artists using the platform are Korean pop groups, but MyMusicTaste intends to use the series A funding to add more artists from the US, Japan and Thailand, and also plans to open a Chinese office.
