SoftBank joins EdCast class for $6m series A

US-based cloud education platform EdCast  has received $6m from a series A round led by Softbank Capital, the corporate venturing arm of telecommunications company Softbank.

Mitch Kapor, of venture firm Kapor Capital, Menlo Ventures, Novel TMT Ventures, Cervin Ventures, Aarin Capital, NewSchools Venture Fund and Stanford StartX Fund also participated in the round.

EdCast is a personal learning network where users can collaborate and learn across educational materials, instructors, students and employers. Its partners include Columbia University, Michigan State, Trinity College Dublin, and University of Botswana.

The capital will be put towards product development and growth.
