Indonesia-based health portal Alodokter.com has received $7m in a series B round that included telecommunications and internet firm SoftBank, DealStreetAsia reported on Monday, citing three sources aware of the deal.
Further details of the round have not been made available. The company had previously raised $2.5m in a 2016 series A round backed by Golden Gate Ventures, 500 Startups and angel investor Lim Dershing, all three having participated in its seed round a year earlier.
Founded in 2014, Alodokter has created a website and app that provides health content to more than 12 million monthly active users in Indonesia. It includes a chat platform where doctors answer questions, and claims more than 150,000 queries are answered each month.
Alodokter generates its revenue through advertising for assorted healthcare brands. DealStreetAsia reports that the funding will be used to expand into new markets in Southeast Asia.
