Solexel, a US-based solar cell and module maker formerly known as Soltaix, which is backed by SunPower and Spirox, has raised $14.8m from undisclosed investors according to an SEC filing.
Previously in May 2012, Solexel raised $36.5m in its series C round from 10 investors, including new investor SunPower Corporation, US-based maker of solar panels.
The company previously raised $15m in its A round in 2007 and an undisclosed amount in its B round a year later. Solexel lists as its investors Spirox Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous Taiwan-based technology distributor, and venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Technology Partners, DAG Ventures, Gentry, Northgate Capital, Ecofin, Oak Hill Investment Management, Westly Group and Univest.
