Spanning Cloud Apps, a US-based developer of enterprise-class data protection service Spanning Backup for Google Apps, has raised $6m in its series B round led by an undisclosed strategic investor.
News provider TechCrunch said search engine provider Google was not the strategic investor.
Venture capital firm Foundry Group was the other investor in the B round, having helped fund Spanning Cloud’s $3m A round.
Charles Wood, chief executive and founder of Spanning Cloud, said: “This infusion of capital will allow us to accelerate the build-out of our direct sales team and reseller channel. It also provides us with an important strategic partner.”
