Speakaboos, a US-based educational media provider that counts education services company Kyowon Group as an investor, has secured $12.5m in a series B-1 round led by investment firm Wellington Management Company.
Speakaboos has developed an app with more than 200 interactive stories that help children aged two to six learn how to read.
The round will support marketing and customer acquisition, and was announced in conjunction with the launch of a television advertisement-led marketing campaign.
The company has now raised about $25m altogether, having attracted conglomerate Al Sayegh Group and numerous individual investors for a $6.5m series B round in late 2014.
Kyowon, 212 Media, Advancit Capital, Gerald Hughes and Rick Segal had already supplied $6.2m in series A funding to Speakaboos in 2013.
