UK-headquartered aviation group International Airlines Group (IAG) has launched a startup accelerator called Hangar 51 in partnership with corporate accelerator manager and early-stage investor L Marks.
IAG will run the 10-week scheme at its London headquarters and will work with aviation technology startups looking to develop and trial customer service products globally with mentorship from IAG’s senior management.
Participants may secure funding from IAG and L Marks as part of the initiative but neither has given any particular idea about how much they will seek to invest. Applications for Hangar 51 will be open until November 6.
Glenn Morgan, head of digital transformation for IAG, said: “If startups have something that can be applied to our industry to help our customers then we want to hear from them.
“This initiative is a great opportunity for early stage businesses to fast-track their innovative ideas by working closely with IAG. We’ll fully support them through mentoring and funding to improve customer journeys with new disruptive and innovative ideas.”
