Former Burrill & Company executive Kiersten Stead has been appointed as a venture partner at US-based agricultural technology firm Monsanto.
Stead joined Monsanto Growth Ventures after working for US-based Burrill & Company, a firm that invests in industrial biotechnology and life science companies and has about $1.5bn of assets under management.
Stead was previously part of the evaluation teams at Genome Canada’s Genomic Applications Partnership Programme, which is chaired by Reza Halse, a partner at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital-backed Partners Healthcare.
Stead has also worked for Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures (Tech Futures), an organisation that helps create sustainable businesses in the Canadian province of Alberta.
Monsanto has previously been a limited partner in Burrill’s healthcare funds.
