Woodman Labs, a US-based maker of the GoPro cameras (pictured on a helmet), is reportedly raising its first round of funding from outside investors, including Steamboat Ventures, the corporate venturing fund backed by media group Walt Disney.
Woodman declined to disclose the size of the investment to news provider Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that revealed the round.
Pure Digital, the maker of pocket camcorder the Flip and which had also been backed by Steamboat Ventures, was acquired by Cisco Systems two years ago for $590m.
Beau Laskey, a Steamboat managing director, told the WSJ his firm planned to help GoPro expand its business in the professional market.
